The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University, that was established by Associate in Nursing Act of the Indian Parliament specifically the Indian Maritime University Act 2008, on ordinal Gregorian calendar month 2008. it's the sole university within the country, dedicated to conveyance quality education within the maritime field. it's Associate in Nursing All- Bharat jurisdiction and also the head quarters is found at city. it's campuses at city, Kolkata, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, fowl and Kandla Port.
The birth of IMU may be a long cherished dream of the maritime community of Bharat. It plays an outsized and key role within the development of trained human resource for the whole maritime sector. IMU endeavors to realize this and on the far side. IMU aims to realize a high degree of excellence and to become notable as a University of worldwide standing. The University has plans to introduce Associate in Nursing assortment of latest courses supported the versatile wants of the maritime sector. at intervals a year of its origin, the University has already set high standards within the field of maritime education and coaching. With its dedicated team of college members, specialists from the business as visiting school and evangelistic student community, the University can still attempt for excellence within the field of maritime education, training, and analysis. The Vision of University is to make Associate in Nursing intensive learning maritime community, powerfully networked with and contributive to the domestic and world maritime data pool besides being committed to modifying domestic and world maritime organisation and policy issues and problems through dialogue and analysis within which students, faculty, society and also the government along side business can participate. The University is poised to subscribe the subsequent objectives: a) operate as a world category center of excellence for maritime studies. b) Act because the apex body for prime level maritime education and analysis across the nation. c) guarantee conduct of quality post and pre ocean courses in connected maritime establishments. d) Conduct skilled development courses for maritime personnel. e) Train a powerful maritime community which may style and build quality ships competitive with ancient construction of alternative countries. f) Network with alternative world category maritime establishments and contribute to the event of national shipping business. g) Undertake practice comes interacting with shipping business.
