INDUS SEAFARERS TRAINING ACADEMY-MARINE TRAINING ACDEMY Indus seafarers training academy (ISTA) formerly called as Indian Seafarers training academy is one of the oldest institution in offering pre-sea training in Merchant Navy. This academy is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India in year 1998. This academy is located in the city of Chennai, with well connected to road, rail and airways at ISTA campus, Manali Saravana raod, Kundrathur main raod, Mangadu, Chennai.ISTA is the first to be approved by Directorate general of shipping, of Its type in India for Merchant Navy pre–sea courses. Keeping pace with the rapid evolution of shipping industry, technological advances, and to produce skilled seaman, the academy is started to construct a marine college at the above address with latest amenities and infrastructure as per the authorities guidelines and imparts quality training.

FACILITIES:

MEDICAL

A In-house dispensary is available for medical treatment and First Aid ISTA will take necessary care about any emergencies. At the same time it is not responsible for any personal injury or any disease suffered by any trainee during their stay. Medical Assistance will be provided at the students cost for their treatment.

LIBRARY

ISTA maintains a Spacious Library with latest Technical Books & Magazines. In addition to a vast collection of books and publications, the latest Merchant Shipping notices and rules, databank of Shipping companies and other marine links are also available.

CLASS ROOMS

Class Rooms are provided with Black board, White board, T.V, L.C.D Projectors, Overhead Projectors, Safety Video CDs, Instruments, Prototypes.

RESIDENTIAL FACILITY

Being a fully residential programme, Hostel facilities for the candidates consist of well designed dormitories. Mattresses, pillow covers will be supplied to each cadet on the date of joining for their use during the training.

Includes interactive computer based training (CBT) programs like Maritime English, Engine Room Simulator, planned maintenance System, ARPA, ROC, Safe Navigation and many more.

LAUNDRY

Arrangements exist for washing clothes, which are collected and delivered weekly at the candidates expense.
SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
Besides above, ISTA provides sports and recreational facilities to its students.The facilities includes:
Badminton, Table Tennis,Chess,Swimming,Foot Ball and other indoor games.
